This is the largest database of sepia and mulberry transferware designs ever compiled.

It covers the entire Victorian period, and around 30 years either side.
This means all the major art movements of the past 200 years are included: From the 1820's Chinoserie and Romantic, into Naturalism, Aestheticism, Japonesque, Heroic and Art Nouveau.

Heroic History

You'll find three thousand images in reds and browns, including the pattern in front, and the maker's stamp on the back.

Any known information about each pattern is included.

There's a segment on the history of Transfer Printing.

Everything is laid out for you, and explained in everyday English.

The generous index is interactive: Each and every entry is a clickable link to take you exactly where you want to be.

Here's a sample entry, to give you an idea of what this is about: Click here

I've also discovered and noted some fascinating things that have not previously been recorded, such as this gem.

It's written and compiled by myself, Gordon Hepworth.
I run a vintage-china replacement service.
I collect transferware.
I write books on the subject of vintage china.

This is one in a series of transferware works I'm compiling.

This is an interactive CD, and must be connected to the internet to work.
I'm constantly adding new designs, and your CD will update itself whenever you play it.
Right now there are one hundred and fifty British manufacturers included; approx one thousand 'unique designs', and this will keep rising as I add more, - which your CD will automatically pick up and include.
Right there, is the main advantage of an interactive CD: You don't need to buy 'revised editions' to have an up-to-date copy: It automatically revises itself!
The CD is actually a link to a remote site, so you don't need a very modern computer: As long as it's connected to the internet and a CD player, you'll have no problem accessing the database.

Another advantage of presenting this work on a CD instead of a paper book, is that I can keep costs down.
The large number of colour photographs would make a 'normal' book an expensive proposition, and would certainly lead to a culling of the photos that could be included.

In this work I have actually added extra photographs that a hard-copy book could not afford: I've shown the variations of back stamps, and even a segment on unidentified potteries and/or patterns.
Another factor in keeping costs down is shipping.
A book with so many hundreds of images, would be thick and heavy, and cost a lot more than the $6 that I charge to buy a plastic case for the CD, a padded bag, and to post it.

It's AUD$34.90 and postage is $6.
Use paypal (below) to pay and I'll immediately post your CD to you.
